"Well my art career started when I had to pick a major my sophomore year of college,I decided art looked fun..."

My first year of college,I attended the University of Oklahoma.I was lost I didn't have a major and the only thing I was interested in was music, although I didn't want to major in it,because I assumed all the music theory classes would take away my love for music. My second semester, the University got really pushy when they saw I was without a major, and tried picking one for me.Of course,I didn't like being treated like a number,so the following year I decided to go to a junior college.

Well my art career started when I had to pick a major my sophomore year of college,I decided art looked fun.I had a great teacher in junior college,Catherine Matt-Ousey,who got me started, and in 1996,I received my A/A degree in Art,from Murray State College.I decided to stick with art,and futher my education at East Central University. At first,I had to make a few adjustments, coming from a junior college.I was used to having that "individual" attention, small classes, and one teacher. Here at the university level art department,I learned new things like politics, competition, and favoritism.

As a "university" student, I tried to avoid these "things" and establish myself as an artist. There I found another guru Jim Alford,he encouraged me to find my source. This "source" I was pretty unsure as to what that was,and what he meant by it.A person's "source" is the inspiration of the individual to create, the motivator.Well, anyway that's my definiton but I'm still not clear as to what's my source.

My senior I started to pull things together.I entered two pieces for "Originals" the university's annual journal devoted to the arts. Both of my pieces were accepted, and my watercolor received an Alpha Chi award and was placed on the back cover.Out of nearly two-hundred pieces submitted, only eighteen were published in the journal.
I entered a few art shows, and had my senior exhibit. My exhibit received good reviews among the students, and my professor's said it was one of the best senior exhibits they'd seen in a long time.In May of 1998,I received my B/A in Art.Recently, I've been doing alot of traveling.Soon I hope to either futher my education or find a career in the artworld....
